Allegations today at UNESCO that the Beaufort site is endangered because it is “presently under direct Israeli military occupation” are outrageous. It is the terrorist organization Hezbollah who is endangering Lebanon's historical sites, including the Beaufort. During more than a decade, jihadist Hezbollah transformed the 12th Century Crusader Castle into a terrorist stronghold. Hezbollah dug a massive network of terror tunnels directly beneath this ancient site, and launched hundreds of rockets, missiles and UAVs at Israeli civilians from this compound. One should ask why during Hezbollah's occupation no proposal was advanced to recognize it as a site in danger. Link to full speech
