Mehdi Taj, President of the Football Federation, stated upon returning to Iran from Canada that he and his delegation were questioned about their ties to the IRGC, to which they responded that 90 million Iranians consider themselves part of the IRGC. Taj also announced that they will travel to the United States only if the Islamic Republic's flag is the sole flag allowed in stadiums during Iran's games.
