Hours after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced intensified control over the Strait of Hormuz, at least two commercial vessels, including a tanker and a container ship, were targeted with gunfire from IRGC speedboats near Qeshm and Larak islands, according to maritime sources and the UKMTO. The incidents occurred as a convoy of eight tankers was passing through the strait, but the vessels turned back without completing their journey.
