Mojtaba Khamenei, in a message regarding an agreement with the United States, stated that despite initial reservations, he granted permission to sign the memorandum of understanding. Concurrently, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth emphasized that signing the agreement does not rule out the military option, amid the White House's continued warnings to the Islamic Republic.
Hossein Shariatmadari, the representative of the Islamic Republic's leader at Kayhan newspaper, stated that exercising sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz could enable Iran to seize assets belonging to the United States and its allies. He also threatened to respond to a U.S. naval blockade with missile strikes targeting Bab al-Mandab.
