The Islamic Republic of Iran has implemented a transit fee of one dollar per barrel for oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, to be paid in digital currency to evade sanctions and financial tracking. The Central Bank of Iran has reportedly purchased at least $507 million worth of Tether cryptocurrency as part of this strategy.
