On Sunday, US President Donald Trump announced the immediate start of a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, stating it would be more extensive than the blockade imposed on Venezuela last year. Trump also mentioned that the US, along with Britain and other countries, would deploy mine-clearing operations in the strait.
