On Monday, April 14, 2025, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a new controlled area in the Strait of Hormuz, extending from Kuh Mobarak in Iran to Fujairah in the UAE and from Qeshm Island to Umm al-Qaiwain. IRGC Commander Ali Abdollahi warned the U.S. Army and other foreign forces against entering the strait, stating they would be targeted, while the IRGC spokesperson assured that commercial vessels adhering to IRGC protocols would remain secure.
