On Sunday, the USS Rafael Peralta destroyer intercepted the MT STREAM oil tanker in the Persian Gulf, preventing it from reaching a port in the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the U.S. maritime siege and maximum pressure campaign. Bloomberg reports that Iran is facing a severe shortage of oil storage capacity, with very large crude carriers halted near Kharg Island, a key export hub for approximately 90 percent of Iran's crude oil exports.
