Israel Katz, Israel's Defense Minister, announced that Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC Navy and previously sanctioned by the United States and the European Union, was killed in Israeli army attacks on Bandar Abbas. Tangsiri was known for his role in closing the Strait of Hormuz.
