The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) has entered the Gulf of Oman and positioned itself east of the Strait of Hormuz, approximately 200 km south of Iran’s coastline. This is the closest point to the Persian Gulf that a U.S. aircraft carrier has been since the start of military operations against Iran.
