On April 25, French President Emmanuel Macron called for the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran and an end to tensions, following talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump. Macron also announced a conference in Paris on April 28 to discuss a multilateral mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed by Iran since U.S. and Israeli attacks began on March 9.
