Military Strikes Against the Islamic Republic

Lt. Gen. Sergei Milchakov, commander of Russia's 51st Guards Combined Arms Army, was reportedly killed in an August 27 missile strike on his command post in Donetsk. His force took Avdiivka and led the push toward Pokrovsk. Russia has not confirmed it.

Saudi Arabia's East-West Crude Oil Pipeline, one of the most important alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz, has been taken offline following a drone attack. At the same time, Houthis backed by the Islamic Republic have advanced in western Yemen and reached Bab al-Mandab; developments that are now putting pressure on alternative oil transit routes as well. The Islamic Republic is seeking to extend the threat against oil flows beyond the Strait of Hormuz and make the routes bypassing it insecure and costly as well.

Satellite imagery comparisons from 2025 and September 13, 2026, show the damage inflicted on Saudi Arabia's east-to-west oil pipeline following Thursday's drone attack on September 19 (10 September). Saudi officials said that the transfer of oil through this vital pipeline, which helps alleviate pressure from disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, has been temporarily halted following the drone attack attributed to Iraq.

The IRGC claimed they shot down an MQ-1 UCAV above the Strait of Hormuz, earlier today. There are two possibilities: the downed UCAV was a UAE-operated Predator XP, or it was an MQ-1C Gray Eagle operated by the U.S. Army. This claim is currently unconfirmed.

Barak Ravid, Axios reporter, quoted a Gulf country official as reporting that Saudi Arabia has presented reforms to the proposal from Oman and the Islamic Republic regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to this official, Riyadh was concerned that the proposed text would effectively solidify a new status quo in the Strait that would be unacceptable to Saudi Arabia and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The IRGC Aerospace Force can no longer produce even a single Shahed-family drone in Iran, as all factories previously used to manufacture their fuselages and other key components have been bombed and reduced to rubble by the Israeli Air and Space Force. Among the facilities destroyed was the main Shahed production plant at Badr Air Base in Isfahan, central Iran. Trump also said that American forces destroy an average of about 25 boats per day and the attack on Saudi Arabia's oil pipeline was likely the work of the Islamic Republic.
