On March 29, 2025, following attacks by Israel and the United States, employees at Tehran's Azadi Sports Complex were ordered to evacuate, allowing government forces including the Basij to deploy in the complex. The national wrestling team's camp and the 12,000-seat Azadi Stadium were among the targets, with the latter being destroyed in an airstrike.
