On April 14, 2025, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the commencement of a siege of Iran's ports involving over 10,000 military personnel, several warships, and dozens of aircraft, blocking all ships from entering or exiting Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, except those bound for non-Iranian ports through the Strait of Hormuz.
