Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, told Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in a phone call that Iran has taken measures in accordance with international law to protect its national security in the Strait of Hormuz, blaming the United States and Israel for the consequences of the current situation on the global economy. Araghchi also stated that the United States' military assault on an independent UN member state is responsible for the current tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
