On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, President Emmanuel Macron announced that Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, two French citizens detained in Iran for over three years on espionage charges, were released and were en route back to France via Azerbaijan. Kohler and Paris were arrested in April 2022 and had been held in Evin Prison.
