The Wall Street Journal reported that more than 15 U.S. warships have been deployed to the region to enforce a naval blockade of Iran, with the UK Maritime Trade Operations imposing restrictions on maritime access to Iran's ports and coastal areas in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and parts of the Arabian Sea. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned of a "harsh response" to any military vessels approaching the Strait of Hormuz.
