On July 2, the U.S. Secretary of State, during a visit to the United Arab Emirates, stated that lasting regional peace is unattainable due to ongoing missile attacks by Iran-backed proxy groups and emphasized the importance of the Strait of Hormuz as an international waterway. The Secretary also mentioned plans to visit Kuwait and Bahrain to reassure regional allies about the U.S. strategic direction toward Iran following the recent memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
