On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing that Xi offered to help reach an agreement with Iran and ensure the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and pledged not to supply military equipment to Iran. The White House confirmed that both leaders agreed on the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for the free flow of energy and expressed opposition to its militarization.
