Iran has leaked a new peace proposal to the United States, which includes Phase 1: a full ceasefire across the region agreed upon by Israel, the US, Iran, and their proxies, and Iran gradually reopening the Strait of Hormuz with the help of US minesweepers in exchange for the lifting of the US blockade and the withdrawal of US forces. Phase 2 involves Iran freezing uranium enrichment at 3.6 percent for 15 years, with sanctions lifted and frozen assets released in return.
Al Jazeera publishes details of Iran's latest offer to the U.S., delivered through Pakistan, which includes three phases: ending the war within 30 days, freezing uranium enrichment for 15 years, and entering strategic dialogue with regional states to build a security framework.
Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul wrote on "X" that in a phone call with Iran's Araghchi, he stressed Germany's support for a negotiation-based solution, urging Iran to abandon nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has rejected initial talks on its nuclear program, insisting it will only consider ending nuclear enrichment in a subsequent round of negotiations, contingent upon the lifting of sanctions and receiving compensation for the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
