Newly empowered hard-liners in Iran's Revolutionary Guard are clashing with top officials focused on economic recovery, as the paramilitary force continues to defend the regime and manage ongoing conflicts.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement in Tehran threatening the United States with military retaliation if it continues "siege, piracy, and maritime robbery" in the region, while also asserting Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz.
The British government plans to introduce new legislation in the upcoming parliamentary session to designate state-supported groups, such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as terrorist organizations. Tajoddin Soroush of Iran International reports.
