On Thursday, May 7, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, announced that approximately 1,500 ships and their crews have been stranded in the Persian Gulf since Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The ships have been stuck for over two months due to the conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran.
