Iranian nationals recruited and trained by the Mossad carried out the ground operation during the opening minutes of Operation Rising Lion, targeting an air-defense facility in Tehran to clear a path for Israeli jets. These agents, who had returned to Iran years earlier and lived ordinary civilian lives, were activated in spring 2025 to execute the mission.
