The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken advantage of what it perceives as weakness and hesitation from the U.S. President, extending a ceasefire and continuing to harass Arab countries in the Persian Gulf while avoiding conflict with Israel. This ceasefire has been in place for a month, during which time the IRGC believes it can stall for time until the U.S. midterm elections, pressuring the U.S. to negotiate rather than escalate military action.
