The U.S. Navy has forced 14 Iranian and foreign tankers carrying Iranian oil and petrochemical products to return to Iranian ports, following the destruction of Iran's navy during recent military conflicts. For instance, a flight element from the USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) intercepted an Iranian oil tanker and compelled it to turn back.

The Iranian Human Rights Organization reported the widespread arrest of at least 3,646 Iranians since the beginning of recent conflicts, starting from late February of the previous year following widespread protests.
