Reports related to human rights violations
HRNA, the news outlet of the Human Rights Activists in Iran network, reported that the United States and Israel conducted more than 100 airstrikes in the past 24 hours across 10 provinces of Iran.
On Tuesday, April 4, 2025, Amnesty International described U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to attack Iran's power plants and energy infrastructure as a "threat to commit a war crime" and called for the immediate withdrawal of these statements. The organization also urged Iran to cease reciprocal threats against civilian infrastructure in other countries.
Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr has been appointed as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic. Morteza Kazemian, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, highlights Zolghadr's military and security background and his history of human rights violations, viewing the appointment as an indicator of the IRGC's increasing control.
According to a report by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, forces from border brigades and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in western Iran have evacuated their garrisons and outposts, relocating to mosques and high points in border villages. These forces have issued warnings that any civilian movement toward the border strip will be met with immediate gunfire without warning.
Prince Reza Pahlavi announced the formation of a "Committee for Drafting Transitional Justice Regulations" in a message to the Iranian people, stating that the committee will draft regulations for a court and a truth-finding commission. The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center reported an escalation of pressures and security threats by the IRGC's "Nabi Akram" Corps and Kermanshah Province's Intelligence Department against Seyyed Nasrollah Heydari, the spiritual leader of the Yarsan community, in recent days in Kermanshah.
On February 20, 2026, Amnesty Interfaith called on the United States, Israel, and the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately halt attacks on energy infrastructure, including facilities related to electricity, industry, and water, citing potential severe humanitarian consequences. According to InterMilitary Pardon, recent campaigns by the US and Israel have targeted Iran's two warehouses and distribution centers, while Iran has retaliated by attacking oil and gas installations in Persian Gulf villages, raising concerns over potential war crimes and violations of human rights.
IRGC Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri declared that all ships must seek Iran’s permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, threatening that vessels ignoring Tehran’s orders “will be caught.” Since the conflict began, at least 14 ships have been struck by projectiles, including the Thai bulk carrier Mayuree Naree, the Marshall Islands-flagged Star Gwyneth, and the Japan-flagged container ship One Majesty, bringing the total to three more incidents this week.
