A video received by Iran International shows residents in a neighborhood in Tehran celebrating what they believe to be the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei, with a woman shouting "He has gone to hell" and others chanting "Long live the Shah."
On the evening of February 28 (ninth of Esfand), video footage shows people in Tehran celebrating after news of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death was broadcast.

Reuters, citing sources, reports that Israeli attacks today are believed to have killed Iran's Defense Minister Amir Hatami and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Mohammad Pakpour.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, stated in an interview with NBC News that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials, including Masoud Pezeshkian, are alive, though he acknowledged the possibility of one or two commanders being killed in attacks on Tehran on February 28. Araghchi also expressed Iran's readiness to de-escalate tensions and indicated willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States.
